Allaura RFID Tool Tracking

Allaura provides the construction, manufacturing and government segments with RFID technology for tool management, tracking, and anti-theft applications. It allows companies to easily retrofit tools of all sizes that have item information coded onto passive RFID (short range), semi-passive RFID (long rage) and active (extreme long range) tags secured onto the tools. Service also provides RFID compatible tool tracking software, corresponding mobile scanning hardware, and list of corresponding serial and product numbers for products in inventory. The tags meet ISO standards.

RFID has been used for many years to track tools. The principle of Allaura first used the technology in 1998 to track tools for an aerospace company. Operational and cost savings are achieved by better automating tool management, tracking and anti-theft applications.

Allaura uses both passive and semi passive tag technology to allow handheld and fixed based readers to track tools through large portals or inside tool rooms. Allaura recognizes that a combination of RFID tag technology is required to deliver the desired result. As important as the hardware technology is the RFID software technology that provides accountability for who used th tool last, where the tool was last seen, is the tool in inventory order and sending a real time alarm when a tool is misappropriated and found to pass through a gate or door.

RFID technology is durable and accurate tool tagging solution in a dirty environment. Protected from the elements and secure on any tool, RFID tags, unlike bar code labels, cannot be damaged, rendered unreadable.

For companies interested in RFID and anti-theft, Allaura offers the ability to track tools through portals of up to 150 ft in width. The Allaura system is designed for retrofit of existing tools and is tool vendor neutral.

Allaura is able to tag tools as small as hammers and screw drivers to as big as power tools, compressors and fork lifts. These include demolition and breaker hammers, combination hammers, cordless and corded rotary hammers, small and large angle grinders, cutoff machines, cordless and corded construction saws, cordless multi-tool combo kits, corded and cordless reciprocating saws and cordless drill/drivers.

RFID Tool Tracking Systems afford companies significant financial and operational savings in the tens of thousands of dollars with a higher level of control over their tools and equipment, not to mention a competitive advantage. One company interviewed has reported missing over a million dollars of tools annually. Tool tracking helps companies' complete jobs faster and for less money. Tool cribs are managed with pronounced efficiency and tool inventories are where they should be at all times for smoother and quicker jobs. Even theft, often internal, reduces by half. Industry studies show, when employees are accountable for their tools through tool tracking systems, tool retention on individual jobsites rises up to 96 percent.

Construction industry loss estimates up to one billion dollars annually, according to a 2003 National Equipment Register study. Tool tracking and management systems provide one level of security, but a large percentage of theft includes tools disappearing from jobsites at the end of the workday. Recognizing this issue, Allaura sells a long range semi active and active RFID tags that that activate security portals designed for gate entrances and exits.

Function:

1. For long range detection, the RFID portal sounds an alarm when an electronic article surveillance (EAS) tagged tool passes through it, alerting jobsite security and management to a problem. The Allaura Portal technology records the event. Optionally, cameras also record the event. Available with varying coverage areas for both personnel and larger equipment/machinery gates, each portal is designed to attach to any fence or gate system for a secure entry and exit point.

2. For short range detection the Allaura system utilizes a handheld and fixed reader pads in the tool room. These allow the ability to inventory tools regularly and associate the tools to the user. Thus last "seen" information is provided, who last used the tool, and inventory location information is provided in near real time.

Each software system is customized to the users needs as no one company is the same. Allaura builds on it's existing RFID portal technology to provide a solution within 90 days of a signed order. If you are interested, please contact, Allaura at 866-938-3587 or visit www.ag-griffin.com.
